USF Humanities Institute Presents A Poetry Reading with Pulitzer Prize Winner, Jericho Brown
October 7, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
FreeFrom the organizers:
This year’s winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, Jericho Brown, will read from “The Tradition” and take questions from the audience. “The Tradition” details the normalization of evil and its history at the intersection of the past and the personal. His poetic concerns are both broad and intimate, and at their very core a distillation of the incredibly human. Poems of fatherhood, legacy, blackness, queerness, worship, and trauma are propelled into stunning clarity by Brown’s mastery.
Brown is also the author of “Please” and “The New Testament.” He has won the Whiting Writer’s Award, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
